Audio: Clay Aiken on Gay Rights

New Clay Aiken Video Update:
Clay Aiken was the headliner @ the Human Rights Campaign's
Raleigh, Carolina fundraising gala Saturday night. In this

exclusive audio byte we asked Aiken if he was happy the

way his story played out in the media, Clay stated, “I don’t

think anyone has any control over their own story. Would

I change anything in the last five years? No.”

In a statement to a reporter after HRC recently lent Aiken
a speechwriter, Clay said, "I don't feel like this is the place

to be horribly politically charged & bash people & talk about

the wrongs that have been done. My goal is to be hopeful,

that it's time for everyone to have equal rights. … I'm not

going to be the person who says it has to be marriage or

nothing else." Updates to Come…:)

Gay Marriage at Risk in New Hampshire

UPDATE: The New Hampshire House voted 210-109 to kill
a bill to repeal the gay marriage law. An hour earlier, the
House voted 201-135 to kill a proposed constitutional
amendment that would have defined marriage as between
one man & one woman. We went through this for 3 years
after gay marriage was passed in Massachusetts. Finally in
June of 2007 the State House voted to end this discrimination.
There will always be people trying to take away the rights of
a minority. It’s time the Obama administration stands up to
these homophobes & gets rid of the Defense of Marriage Act
(DOMA) & puts an end to subjecting our LGBT community
to this hate. Updates to Come...:)

Was Abraham Lincoln Gay??

Exclusive audio interview w/ Filmmaker Stu Maddux
on his new documentary “Gen Silent” about LGBT

seniors so afraid of being subject to discrimination,

or worse, in long-term/health care that many go

back into the closet
"There's no question in my mind that Abraham Lincoln
was a gay man &
a totally gay man. It wasn't just a period,
but something that
went on his whole life", said Gay Activist
Larry Kramer.....
At the heart of the speculation is Lincoln's close relationship
with Joshua Speed, a Springfield merchant who helped the

young lawyer by allowing him to share his upstairs room &

bed for four years. Speed remained a lifelong friend, despite

his support of slavery & the two sent warm, affectionate letters

for years, even after Lincoln moved into the White House....:)

National Freedom to Marry Day...:)

This is a mixed celebration if you're a gay American living
outside of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Iowa &

New Hampshire where gay marriage is the law. It's a hard

time for our LGBT community living in California & Maine

where the majority was allowed to vote away the rights of a

minority....Then there are the states that have amended their

constitutions against our Freedom to Marry. Let's hope that

the legality of Prop 8 will be overturned. More Info:EQCA
Whatever the OUTcome, we'll keep working towards equality
for all the people, not just some of the people....:)

Gay Marriage & Rhode Island

Exclusive audio interview with Black Gay Activists
Andrea Shorter and Edwin Seth Brown in celebration
of Black History Month

There’s a good chance that Rhode Island’s next governor
could sign gay marriage into law. Three of the candidates

are promising they’ll sign a bill if it reaches their desk.
Advocacy group Marriage Equality Rhode Island has invited
Democrats Patrick Lynch & Frank Caprio & Independent
Lincoln Chafee to make their promise public at an upcoming
rally. Republican John Robitaille hasn’t responded to the

group but says he might support domestic partnerships.

Big Surprise….:) That would make 5 New England states

out of 6 where gay marriage is the law after that horrible

upset in Maine last November. Updates to Come...:)

Don’t Tell’ Policy hearings: “President Obama has done the right
thing in calling for an end to the un-American and discriminatory
‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy. I thank Chairman Levin for holding

Women Ruled 2010 Grammys...:)

Our only LGBT presence in the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards
was Lady Gaga & Elton John’s show opener. However women
dominated the show with Taylor Swift & Beyonce taking home

a combined 10 awards, becoming this year’s big winners. The
media highlight was a tribute to Michael Jackson. Carrie

Underwood, Smokey Robinson, Jennifer Hudson & Celine Dion

performed “Earth Song” followed by a moving speech by Jackson’s

children accepting his award for him. However the real show stopper

was Pink performing a Cirque du Soleil type presentation of her song

"Glitter in the Air" from her Funhouse album. She made her way down
the aisle to center stage in a white robe which she dropped to
floor in an outfit that was revealing to say the least…:)
